Blogger.com blanked out my template, and it's taken me a while to find the time to fix it and update my Blog. Had to rebuild both my blog and archive templates. Nothing like messing around with Blogger for three hours on a Saturday morning.

Now it's three weeks since I could post, so everyone missed one Blog (below).

Last two shows of the play tonight and tomorrow night.

Two weeks since the last Blog. Between work and the play I've been feeling a bit drained, tired, and not in the spirit of sitting down and Blogging anyway, but here I am on a Sunday morning and well, dammit, I've got to Blog!

Everything has been going well. Except for a good friend who got caught in a wind storm that swept through Thursday night and blew him and his windsurfer out to sea. He was picked up by the Coast gaurd at 11:00 PM after floating for five hours (three in the dark) thinking about his wife and brand new little girl, who were sitting at home desparately wondering where he could be. I found out from Rosemary when I got home from the play. She had been fielding the calls from everyone, and was ready to join our friends scouring the beaches when the call came in that he had been found by the Coast Gaurd. We had all expected the worst, but he was alright, suffering hypothermia, but not much the worse for wear (externally). He and his wife, and all the gang, were at the play last night, and I think I gave my strongest performance yet, so it was a good evening all around of reunion and warming ourselves in each other's company (well, those that didn't have to get home to babysitters that is). We didn't get home until 2:30!

The weather has been good, but steadily cooling off. I'll try to get some pictures on the website soon of new things. Just don't have as much time as used to! All is well for me, and I hope that the Travelers are well too. Pete, your trip is becoming your spirit and attitudes, and you're passing with flying colours brother. I know you know it, and like you said it's just stuff and not your life. Something that became all too clear for me (again) Thursday night. How lucky we are, indeed!

Good review of the play in The Courier, online at http://www.vancourier.com/094102/entertainment/094102en4.html

There's also a review of the play in a "webzine" at http://www.reviewvancouver.org/theatre_index.htm

Okay, so the first presentation for work was Sept. 3, not 6th. Good thing I write these things down. It went very well, and it's interesting to have students wandering the halls now - much busier and a new energy to the place. Many of the first year students stop by Sandy's and my office to say hi and ask about course and program advising issues. It's not really our job, but we're a familiar face now, and when the line up is long outside of Helen's office (the Coordinator of Student Services) we do our best. Sandy knows a lot more than I do, so I'm constantly sending folks her way. Hopefully I'll be more functional soon!

The play opened on Friday, although Thursday was our first "real" audience. It has gone very well so far, with last night being one of our strongest yet. Tonight is the closing night of our first "run", with three more weekend runs to go. Now that the play is up, it's a very different experience, and I can feel the time commitment easing. It'll be nice to have evenings and weekend days back! I'm very proud of the production, and I think we have a very good show. It'll be interesting to see how it evolves, and (perish the thought) I'm looking forward to reading the reviews.

A bit rainy today, but perhaps a Grouse Grind hike before the play? Who knows, maybe it's a day for a movie...

Dad is now somehwere in Laos, and I hope he is finding his traveling legs and traveler's sprit again. My first vivid memory of him traveling was watching his slides from India some 25-odd years ago, and trying to conceptualize my Dad in such a foreign place. He had brought back Indian knick knacks for us, and an ornate camel saddle that quickly became the foot rest in front of his chair. I would lie under it many times playing with the bells and the carved camel heads at either end, but I never really thought of how it would fit on a camel! It was almost like he had stepped into a story book, and even though there he was in the pictures, I don't think I ever had the concept of the distance and difference he had experienced. I know now, and I wish I was there! Pete is also on his way soon, to the wilds of South America. Donde esta el banos? Donde esta el bar? Dos cervesas por favor! I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job... nuts. Travel well mes amigos! Hasta manana.
