Okay, so I'm in The Birds. I will be playing the Vulture, the leader of the chorus. Should be interesting. I always thought I was more of a sparrow, but a nasty carrion eater sounds okay.

Sunday morning and it is beautiful in Vancouver - sunny but cold. Last night was the first round of going through stuff, chucking and packing. Moving this Friday night to the new place out at UBC, and I'm looking forward to it. Quieter, nicer place, trails and forest close by, no bridges to get across to get to and from work. Yay!

Even so, I'll miss our little pad downtown. Thursday night I did a run I haven't done since we first moved here. At 5:45 I started out along the seawall, and was feeling good (and it wasn't raining) so I just kept going. Thought about the training for the marathon, and the various runs with Rosemary, Ryan, Dave and Pete. Rounded Brockton Point, and headed out in the dark towards the Girl on the Rock. Past third beach, and the wall was devoid of life. Dark and misty, with the water black glass to my right. Padded my solitary way to Prospect Point and the Lions Gate Bridge, and the gate was closed. What to do? Swing around the fence, briefly dangling over the water, of course! Under the bridge and onwards, and now it was really dark and deserted. The cliffs loomed over the trail, with constant drip of seeping water from Stanley Park; like running through a cave. Past old Siwash, the man turned into a rock, ever vigilant through the cool night watching across the Straight. The smooth water splashing just bellow my feet, looking close enough to reach out and grab me off the seawall. I started wondering who might lie in wait in the dark for unsuspecting joggers dumb enough to be out on the seawall at night. Round past second beach, and the lights of English Bay bright up ahead, and no more thoughts of muggers. Then, suddenly, back in the city, the lonely seawall behind me. Running up Denman street, past the school Rosemary and I took Spanish at, feeling for sure we'd be with Pete in South America this fall. Past the Library where I got my first city library card. Turn up Robson street and the smell of tempura from the Japanese restaurants, and then the Blockbuster we would wander to when it was time for a video. Cut cross the dirt path past the hotel, and now almost home. Past the corner store where Rosemary and I'd sometimes get a small bag of gumdrops, and the post office with the nicest fellow you could ever buy stamps from. Then, across Georgia, to home sweet home, six flights up. On to new adventures.

Second audition for "The Birds" this afternoon. Do I really want to be in "The Birds"?

Ah well, part of me thinks that I need to keep doing it. Part of me thinks that the production won't add to my overall growth as an actor. Let's wait and see...

Okay, a blog.

Haney to Harrison went well - "Hammer's Timbits" made the 100km dash on a clear, beautiful (but damn cold in the morning) day in 7:47. No bonking, no puking, no problem.

Set up a Blog, tell everyone about it, and people expect you to Blog. Set up a webpage and... well you get it. I'v finally updated the website. Visit and enjoy.

Audition tomorrow. Do I really want to be in "The Birds"?
