Twenty some-odd days later and the play opens tomorrow, with a "preview" night this evening. Last week the Director decided to move away from stylized makeup and asked us to prepare masks for ourselves. In a mad rush of evening paper mache sessions I built a Vulture mask. Geoff the SPmakeupFX guru advised me on the materials and we sketched some ideas. I built it and sketched a rough design on the mask, and then he primed and painted the finished product with an airbrush. It looks fantastic and it received many compliments last night at rehearsal. Thank you Geoff - our creative collaborations continue.

Pete and Catherine were here mid-month, regailing us with tales of travel and adventure. So much world, so little time. Pete managed to squeeze in a protest march while he was here. Something about no war or something.

The ankle is getting much better, but I haven't been okay'd to run yet. The physio-guy is working on my shoulders too, loosening up the scar tissue from separations, pulls and breakages. It's a nice little pain session every Tuesday.

Without running I was worrying about getting soft-around-the-middle-now. Luckily right after Pete&Catherine left I caught a very nasty cold which helped me avoid food and being upright. Throat still hurts. Stupid tonsils. I need more sleep.

I have a digital recorder now to increase my output of greatest hits and movie sound tracks. Thanks dad and Wayne-the-Oboe-man in Mississippi. Finally, my James Bond dance mix will come to be.

Watched Requiem for a Dream the other night. What ever happened to movies like Aurthur?

Physio on Tuesday went well - I have a second degree tear of one of my ligaments, but it's not too bad. The physiotherapist said I could walk and bike. So I thought, great, I'll bike to rehearsal on Wednesday night! Went to the bike storage room to get my bike tonight and no bike. Rosemary's frame was hanging by the lock - no wheels, no front forks. Damn. Welcome to the big city . At least we have insurance. How come we never had them stolen when we lived in a seedy building in downtown? Life is so damn funny. Really damn funny. Ha ha.

Out for a run on Friday after work. Half way along a nice 6k loop on the trails and thinking about something other than my feet and yikes! I rolled my ankle. Ow ow ow. Walked the rest of the way hoping it would pass, but by the time I got home it was pretty sore and puffy. Icing and had some Naproxene left over from the last "owie". It's got a nice purple hue along the outside bottom edge of the foot, and bruising spreading to the rest of the foot. I suppose I should go see the physio people on Monday.

All that aside, we had a nice weekend. Went and watched Falmenco guitar and dancing at the Kino Cafe on Cambie Street on Friday evening. Watching those women stomp made me wince. Yesterday was rainy, so a good day to recover walking around shopping at Ikea and the malls.

Watched Gosford Park last night - neat movie.

Thinking of going to Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers tonight. Ahhhh, my preciousss...

Christmas holidays and New Year's Eve have passed. My liver layeth down to rest.

Things I have learned:
1. Placing little plastic protesters around the RISK board can get you allianced against. Good thing Jordan and I are Big in Japan.
2. A virus can be passed from son to father. Even on Christmas. Sorry Dad.
3. Despite getting your father ill he will still go out of his way to make your Christmas wish come true. Thanks Dad.
4. There are worse things than being kicked in the ass. Try a skate. Heal up and hair over Greg.
5. When the jam is running a little stale, whip out a Britney Spears cover. Or whip out Britney Spears from under the covers. Thanks Dave, Ian and Tamara.
6. Imitating Steve from "Blues Clues" wows the young'ins. Thanks Bish, Kim, Susie and Greg.
7. It's perfectly possible to drink until three in the morning on your birthday, be driven home by a friend, and still show up for hockey the next morning. You're an inspiration Dale (we'll overlook your brief time-out around the side of the skate shack whilst lacing up).
8. A flight can be more delayed than the originally scheduled delay, and if they really love you, your girlfriend will still be waiting in the rain for you. Thanks Rosemary.
9. Napping after X-country skiing is a lovely idea. Thanks Ev and Ian.
10. I'm actually pretty good at the limbo after a few fruity tequilla drinks. Thanks Jose Cuervo.
11. Tired is as tired gets. Steve gets cranky. Sorry Rosemary.
12. I am blessed with parents, sibblings, friends, and a Rosemary that would make Bill Gates feel poor. Thanks God (Allah, Buddha and Yaweh not excluded).

Back at work today. Feels like Monday. TGtomorrwIF.
