Well, the thieves found us again, this time stripping the front forks off of our bikes. We could not find a way to store them in our apartment, and with great hesitation we put them downstairs in the bike storage room. We locked the back wheels and frame with kryptonite locks and removed the seats and front wheels. So they took the forks. We will not be storing them in the "secure" bike room of the buildling anymore.

As they had changed the locks since the time our bikes were stolen, I figure that it must be somebody living here who is doing the thefts. They obviously know bikes well enough to get the forks off quickly, and have the tools to do it. A royal piss-off, as I discovered the theft this morning as I was preparing to go for a ride on Burnaby Mountain with my friend Dave Harding. He offered to lend me one of his bikes for the ride, but I didn't feel much like going. But after much swearing and soul searching, I realized that sulking at home wouldn't do much for me, and then thieves would be stealing my day from me, not just the bike parts, so we went anyway. I had a great ride on a very beautiful, sunny day. However, now Rosemary and I have to replace our front forks which will cost at least $300 if we find second-hand parts, and we'll need to find a way of storing our bikes in the apartment. Oh well, it's only money right? Dave has an old bike stand that he built that we might be able to use. It's good to have good friends.

Rosemary doesn't know about the theft yet (unless she reads my Blog), as she is in Ottawa! She ran the half marathon this morning, and left an elated message saying that she finished in 2:32, with a sprint to the finish! She's had a fantastic visit with her friend Jesse, splitting their time between Ottawa and Toronto, where Jessee lives. Yay!

With Rosemary away I had to occupy myself, so I did an acting workshop yesterday with Lynne Carrow and Lindsay Walker, two casting directors in town. Good work shop, and perhaps a way of introducing myself to Lynne, who casts for Da Vinci's Inquest amongst other things. I was happy with the scene work I did, and it was good to see other actors and how they did things and do a comparison to my own work. An informative session as well about what is expected by casting directors and what the current status of the industry is (depressed). Makes me think that amateaur theatre may be the best I can hope for. But one can always dream a little... especially when bad people are stealing your things. I hope those thieving bastards have VERY unhappy lives.

This may be the most Canadian site I've found. What would my misguided youth spent in front of the TV have amounted to without the Canadian Wildlife Service?
