Oh good God. Another month has gone by. In my defence, it was a busy one. Let's see...

The play went well, with very good audiences most nights. We closed to nearly a full house, and the publicist for the Metro Theatre sent out an email to say how the theatre had made over $21,000 from the show. I wasn't sure whether to feel proud or insulted. All of the actors and crew worked very hard, and the theatre benefited. Granted, the theatre can now continue to put on productions which allow actors such as myself to continue to "work", but I'd rather they not waive their profits in my face.

Tristram and Anna from Australia arrive mid-October and proceeded to introduce beer to our diets. We rarely drink the brew, and it was actually quite fun to investigate local brew pubs, and sample many different micro-brews. We had a good trip up to Squamish during the worst of the early rains, and saw Shannon Falls unlike any other time I'd seen it. It was an impressive (and destructive) week of weather. Fires then floods. Locusts in time for Christmas?

Dad was out near the end of the month in time for the closing night of the play and my birthday. A nice combination of events, and it was good to see him! With retirement he has been focusing on a medical school in Laos, and helping them improve their curriculum and clinical teaching. A tall order judging from the facilities and resources they have to draw on. Physicians without Frontiers gets a lot of press (thanks to ER) but what about the efforts to train physicians in developing nations domestically? Hat's off to Dad, and Clarence, and those working to improve medical education in these countries. Independence from global influences comes in many ways...

Hammer's Timbits hit the road between Haney and Harrison again this weekend, and we had a stellar time running our various stages and mooning each other from strategic locations. Makes me wonder what I'll do when I grow up...

Trying out virtual recording sessions with Ian - sent him some digital tracks. The results will be posted.

Gonna be away for work over the next couple of weeks. The new recruiters should be starting at the end of November and beginning of January. That's when things will get even more challenging and I look forward to it. So far this year I've been doing well on my own, and have carried on much of the work Sandy and I began and had planned for this year. I miss her energy and experience though, and often teachers ask after her. Some of the side projects to develop materials and improve what we had has been sidelined anyway by a new "Image Committee" at the Faculty. Politics and committees and decisions, oh my!
