Ah, what is a mole? A small, brown, sightless creature in the dirt perhaps? Or maybe a small brown, meaningless blemish on your body. Until a dermatologist has a look at it and says, "Oh we should take that off." Silly me. I said yes.

The mole was removed, and I have not heard the results of the biopsy yet, but I'm not too concerned. I have a lot of moles that are quite happy where they are. This particular mole, though, was in a rather sensitive spot, about two centimeters from my body's exit corridor. And as I lay face down on the doctor's table, with the sweet anticipation of a needle about to pierce my skin in area that a needle has no business poking around, I thought, "Oh dear, this might sting a little." It did. And as the doctor began mining out the poor, brown, sightless blemish I thought, "Oh dear, this might be a bit sore tomorrow." It was. I have sat favouring one side for a week now, and am eagerly awaiting the ability to sit upright firmly on both cheeks without the unpleasent tug of stitches, just as the good Lord intended.

But for now, I will give thanks for family and friends, and the little future scar that I'm lovingly tending.

Cheers to Dad in Vientien, Pete somewhere in China (climb on!), Dave and Shannon in Italy, and good friends that have returned home to us from afar for this turkey weekend.
