Why do I hate commercial auditions?
"Okay look into the camera and give me the "gunslinger look", you know like nobody's gonna get by you and.... okay... right... now you're realizing you made a silly mistake "How could I have done that!"...okay...more like you see something that's strange or weird, "what in the world is that?"... okay... and you're looking at a girl across the room, coming on to her, a sort of "come hither" look... "hey baby”, you're the man of her dreams... okay... thanks, that's it."
Yeesh.
Audtion workshops make you think that you'll be auditioning for roles with scripts and vying for roles on tv shows. Which (for me) is pure baloney - the reality is an endless commercial purgatory of no lines, look-based psuedo acting. When do I get to actually act in an audition? Is it my agent? Is it me? Am I just too plain to inspire any casting director to give me a chance for a real audition? Can I whine any more than this?
Day job. At least I have my day job. And a degree. And I'm starting a Masters. And a viable alternative career. And Rosemary. But doing a tv show or a movie would be sooo cooooool...

Finally posted some pictures of my last two plays on the website. I've posted my commercial as well, but it doesn't seem to "stream" very well on the home computer - I will have to try at work.
We're interviewing at work for my coworker this week, which should be entertaining. I'm sure at some point I'll have a mad impulse to ask one of the candidates to sing something from their favorite musical...
Funked up my wardrobe a bit with Sandy last weekend. The kids will dig me (and Forestry), but the hair will have to wait until next month. After the last play it's been slowly growing out of the "early-70's conservative British" style I put it in.
No plays on the horizon. With the job and my Masters courses it's hard to see how a show would fit in. That, and I haven't seen any casting calls for anything I want to be in. My kingdom for at least one role that doesn't a)have me doing a British accent, and b)take place prior to 1980.
