The wedding was great - congrats to Ev and Ian our X-country ski and bike buddies! Ev introduced Rosemary and I to each other 5 year, 5 months and 19 days ago. Seems like only yesterday. Mike and Barb took me up the hill and around the corner on "Raising a Din". I only fell off once and gave my helmet a small crack, which gave me a lovely scrape on my forehead for the wedding.
But, as one begins another ends. Our thoughts out to Russ in Queensland who came home to find no Janine. If you were closer we'd have a VB on the porch mate.
A small part in a murder mystery night at the Jericho Arts Centre Sunday night, followed by joining Rosemary and the girls at "Crash". Not the Cronenberg one, the other one. Good acting, good script, a little too many coincidences, but nice tidy resolutions. And unlike "Magnolia", no frogs.
Now I'm sick. Too much craziness over the weekend perhaps? My head was pounding today and I spent much of it in bed, with regular draining of my sinuses into tissues. Stupid cold. Still, better now than on a weekend. I suppose. Yeesh.

I've had my head down for a while, doing a lot of writing for my Masters courses. Basically my Muse was relegated to writing about business ethics and due diligence instead of waxing poetically on my Blog. Now I'm taking a qualitative methods course - ooeeeooo the fun never stops.
But as Muses do, it rebelled and broke out, and resulted in my latest song.
I've been listening to The Arcade Fire and Iron and Wine and thought, "What about a little of both?" I also wanted to see if I could create a song that used continuous repetitions of small musical phrases, adding them in as the song progressed (and therefore use the "copy" function on the digital recorder that's just too cool). Each one hopefully builds on the last, and I wanted to get to a noisy (but hopefully musical) crescendo by the end. I think it works fairly well, but the compression to MP3 to post it on the website doesn't quite do it justice (at least that's my excuse).
The lyrics are a result of Rosemary wondering if I'll ever write her a song. So I did. The harmonies are a little rough, but that's the Iron and Wine trying to come through, but the ending is more Arcade Fire.
And if the beginning sounds a little REMish that's just pure coincidence. Will I ever really write something original? I think I should "endnote" my songs as much as my essays.
Up to Kamloops this weekend for Ev and Ian's wedding, and a little mountain biking with Mike and Barb. May they all be gentle with me...
